About Us

Mossy Creek Farms was established in 1875 deep in the Piney woods of East Texas.  For generations, this land raised cattle and grew families.  It wasn't until the 1980's that the decision was made to step into the Shorthorn business, like many, starting with a show heifer for 4-H.  What we quickly found is that the Shorthorn breed not only provided for great growth and yield potential in the cattle, but an enjoyable docile nature that makes them fun to manage and even more fun to put in the hands of young people.  To us, there is nothing better than to watch the bond form between a young person and their calf and to appreciate the lessons learned by both along the way.  It is also vitally important that we raise the kind of cattle that will not only perform in the showring, but have long productive lives when the last banner is earned.  We know that there are many choices in ranches and cattle breeds when just getting started or selecting your next show project.  We aim to offer the type of cattle and service that will help make it an easy process regardless of your needs.
